Weezie is on the road again! In February, we visited sunny Palm Beach with one of our favorite bag and accessories brands, Neely & Chloe. This time, we’re trading in our cover ups for cashmere, bundling up for an early spring weekend in our nation’s capital. We’re so excited to be teaming up with the creators of our go-to shoes, Margaux, for a trunk store & special customer event in their beautiful, light-filled space in Georgetown.
In anticipation of our long weekend in DC, we tapped our Brand Marketing Manager, Mary Shaffer, to fill us in on the perfect weekend itinerary, having lived in DC for several years. Below, Mary Shaffer dishes on the District’s best.
Where to Sleep
The LINE DC
A stop by DC’s outpost of the LINE is a must! Cool vibes abound in this church-turned-hotel in the colorful Adams Morgan neighborhood. Its bustling, expansive lobby is the perfect spot for a cocktail, and with three restaurants to choose from, sticking around for dinner is a great option, too!
The Hay-Adams
For a more traditional stay, nothing beats the Hay-Adams! Swing by the Top of the Hay for incredible views of the nearby White House and monuments. The Hay-Adams is quintessential DC. We recently got ready for a friend’s wedding in one of its luxurious suites - practically made for enjoying the stay!

Breakfast:
Call Your Mother Deli (@callyourmotherdeli)
This buzzy deli draws lines around the block, and for good reason! They serve up the most delicious bagel sandwiches and latkes. Bonus points for the happiest branding and color scheme in town.
Brunch / Lunch:
Le Diplomate (@lediplomatedc)
Ahh, Le Diplomate! There’s no happier weekend morning than one spent on its sunny patio. This French restaurant serves up some of my favorite food in the city for all three meals, but brunch is extra special. Do yourself a favor and order the burger (champagne encouraged, too.)
Millie’s (@milliesdc)
Located in DC’s Spring Valley neighborhood, Millie’s is the spot for a long, leisurely lunch al fresco when the weather is warmer. The patio is the perfect place to post up with your pup (our Cavalier King Charles Louis is a frequent diner!) and a glass or two of rose. We love their tacos and salads!
Dinner:
The Dabney (@thedabneydc)
Dinner at the Dabney is always a treat. Known for their locally sourced, Southern-inspired menu, the food is consistently delicious, and the space cozy and inviting. If the wait is long (which it will be!) grab a drink and oysters around the corner at the Dabney Cellar.
Timber Pizza (@timberpizzaco)
My fiance and I have a Friday night tradition of pizza and wine (sometimes often repeated on Sunday nights), and Petworth’s Timber Pizza is the perfect pick. We love the laid-back, order at the counter restaurant, but it also makes for great takeout. Highly recommend the Green Monster.
Dessert / Other:
I’d be remiss not to mention Georgetown Cupcake in a DC guide - the one that started it all! Prefer something you can only get in DC? Don’t miss sister bakeries Baked & Wired and A Baked Joint - just be prepared for lines at all the above!

Where to Drink
Coffee:
Compass Coffee (@compasscoffeedc)
Every good day in DC starts with a cup of Compass Coffee! We lived around the corner from the OG Compass on 7th Street in Shaw, and our morning coffee walk became a daily ritual. Started by two former Marines, this coffee shop has taken DC by storm, now with over 10 locations. You’ll find me at the Georgetown location before our Margaux trunk show!

Many a weekend afternoon spent at this beer garden in Shaw (now with a second location in Navy Yard, if you’re heading to a Nationals game!)
Bar a Vin at Chez Billy Sud (@chezbillysud)
If you find yourself in Georgetown come 5:00, be sure to pop into this cozy gem of a bar. Great wine list, cocktails, and vibes.
Where to Play
Shopping for clothing:
Georgetown! Stroll down M Street for tried and true classics, as well as (relatively) newcomers like Outdoor Voices and Reformation. Tucked along Wisconsin, you’ll find other Weezie favorites like Margaux (a jewel box of a store!) and Tuckernuck.
Shopping for home:
Wander further up the aforementioned Wisconsin Ave and you’ll find a great selection of antique and consignment stores. Make your way over to 14th Street for a bevy of restaurants and shops, including Salt & Sundry, Framebridge & vintage staple Miss Pixie’s.
Museums / other activities:
No trip to DC is complete without a stroll around the monuments! Come another month or so, the glorious Tidal Basin cherry blossoms will be in peak bloom. Be sure to take advantage of the Smithsonian Museums (all are free!) The National Gallery of Art is a favorite, and the Museum of African American History is at the top of everyone’s list. For something a bit off the beaten path, be sure to stop by Hillwood, the estate and gardens of Marjorie Merriweather Post.
Best way to #enjoythestay
The streets of Georgetown overflow with charm! An afternoon spent wandering the neighborhood, admiring the architecture, is a day well spent. (PS - for a peek into one of these charmers, check out Sarah Bartholomew’s Georgetown Rowhouse project featured in House Beautiful here!)
