On the heels of our recent collection with Parterre, we chatted with Parterre's cofounders about how they unwind and what is keeping them inspired. Keep reading to hear from Julia and Hanna and shop their Weezie picks.
Tell us a little about yourself!
Julia Berolzheimer: I’m a California transplant who moved to Charleston, SC six years ago with my husband Thomas. We have two daughters, Clementine (2.5 years) and Marigold (1.5 months). I am the founder of my namesake shopping and lifestyle website, juliaberolzheimer.com (previously Gal Meets Glam) and co-founder of Parterre.
Hanna Seabrook: I’m a creative and brand consultant, founder of GADABOUT Creative and co-founder of Parterre. I’m originally from Georgetown, South Carolina and currently live in Columbia, South Carolina.
What keeps you busy?
JB: Between two littles under three and running two businesses, it’s hard to find much time for anything else, but whenever possible I do love to travel and spend time with my family and my girlfriends.
HS: Work, family and a bit of personal interior design. Parterre is the first passion project I have actively pursued, aside from founding GADABOUT Creative.
What’s your big picture?
JB: My big picture has shifted since having children. My dreams and goals aren’t necessarily to be the most successful, make the most money, or build the biggest business, but to have a sustainable, growing business that brings me joy, while also being able to be present for my daughters. I’ve had to make some tough business decisions over the past couple of years, and they’ve helped me realize that what actually drives me is genuinely being passionate and proud about the things I’m creating and the brands I’m growing. I hope in 5, 10 and 20 years, I’m still working alongside Hanna to dream up and design products that excite and challenge us, fuel our creativity and help us to grow.
HS: GADABOUT began as primarily illustration, brand and graphic design, and has since evolved into digital solutions and product design. I have been conceptualizing products with core clients, designing textiles for Parterre and other brands, and working toward bigger picture opportunities within my network of professional friends. I would love to see Parterre grow very consciously and for GADABOUT to remain a boutique creative studio. In the big picture, I would love to still be doing some version of what I do now, maybe at a more relaxed pace with a bit more time to focus on interiors.
How do you slow down and #enjoythestay?
JB: I am not great at slowing down, but it has become increasingly important after having kids. Even a 30-minute break on our porch when the sunshine is out fills up my cup immensely. I love my morning walks to pick up coffee and making time in the evenings with my husband to have a glass of wine and catch up after we put the girls down.
HS: My relaxation is centered around opportunities to exhale and be inspired — flipping through design books and magazines, hunting for antiques online. If I can split a good bottle of wine with my husband while doing that, I feel enough of a reset.
You two are on Weezie’s girl-crush list. What artists, designers, creatives and fun brands are you crushing on these days?
JB: Brent Neale (I have a few custom pieces of hers and they are my favorite jewelry to wear evert day), Maison Alma for the most exquisite handmade outerwear, Polly Wren Studios for the sweetest custom knits for littles and Cordelia de Castellane — she's the artistic director for Dior Maison and Baby Dior, and everything she touches is gold.
HS: Remy Renzullo, Nathalie Farman-Farma, Cutter Brooks and always Robert Kime. I love to shop Houses and Parties and March in San Francisco.

JB: Shower!
HS: Shower, always. I bore myself in the tub.
-Bath time buddies:
JB: My daughter is obsessed with Glo Pals and I love to light my favorite candle, Carrière Frères in Orange Blossom.
HS: My kids love the interchangeable Liewood Ice-Cream Cones. They mix, match and stack multiple sets.
-Bedtime stories:
JB: My daughter will only read Pete the Cat right now, and I love his take on life … his glass is always half full.
HS: I adore The Road Home by Katie Cotton and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo for my eldest.
-Bucket-list destinations:
JB: Villa Feltrinelli on Lake Garda in Italy is the best hotel we’ve ever been to, in one of the most surreal and beautiful places.
HS: Sweden was every bit as wonderful as I imagined. I feel oddly connected to their culture, new and old. Both my husband and I tend to focus our trips around hotels, restaurants, experiences and shops. I love to be in and visit heavily curated spaces.
-Weezie for me:
JB: The starter pack — we have them in every bathroom in our home.
HS: Weezie made me love bathrobes, so I will forever love your robes.
-Weezie for everyone:
JB: I’ve gifted Weezie robes to almost all of our family members. Monogramming makes it feel extra personal and special.
HS: The washcloths are such a fun personalized gift.
-Famous last words:
JB: Always assume positive intent.
HS: I found a piece of paper in my mother’s favorite side table after she died, and I keep it in my wallet now. It said: “Things get broken, sometimes they get repaired, and in most cases you realize that no matter what gets damaged, life has a way of rearranging itself to compensate for your loss, sometimes wonderfully.” The quote is by Hanya Yanagihara and it has the ability to shift my perspective when I need it most.
