Tell us about your journey to interior design.

Growing up, I developed a love for interiors and was influenced by my mother and grandmother who both have an eye for creating a beautifully collected home. After some encouragement from family and friends, I started Molly Basile Interiors in 2018 on the side while working in marketing and color development for Le Creuset here in Charleston. For the first six months I worked on design projects in my free time and on nights and weekends - once things became too busy I decided to leave my job and focus solely on my business. It’s been a wild few years but I’ve never looked back! I’m forever grateful to those first few clients for trusting in me.

Your style in a few words: classic, fresh, inviting

Your forever inspo: Our clients and their families inspire me. I love developing that personal relationship to create a beautiful yet functional space that reflects them.

I identify with classic lines and finishes paired with colorful florals and patterns – a timeless mix.

You recently completed a fab powder bath and included some special Weezie pieces. Can you give us a glimpse into the process of bringing this beautiful space together?

This project was such a fun one! I worked with clients here in Charleston to design their new home from the construction phase to furnishing. This small powder room is tucked under the stairs so we knew it had to pack a punch. The clients (who have become dear friends) are big Clemson fans and we thought it would be fun to incorporate a pop of orange somewhere in the house as a little nod to their alma mater. We covered the walls and ceiling in Les Touches by Brunschwig & Fils Tangerine wallpaper for a fun, yet classic backdrop. The new Weezie wave towels in taupe paired perfectly to add warmth and a personal, playful touch.

The design brief:

Wallpaper: Les Touches by Brunschwig & Fils in Tangerine

Mirror: Uttermost Herleva Mirror in Gold

Fixtures: Newport Brass Jacobean Faucet in unlacquered brass & the tiniest sink we could find by Duravit

That light! Circa Lighting Cynara Chandelier by Chapman & Myers, gild finish

 Before you go…

What are you reading? Anything from fiction to parenting to business - I keep a small stack on my bedside!

Ashley Whittaker’s The Well-Loved House is a new design book I have been enjoying.

Who are you following? @juliaamory for entertaining inspo, @luliewallace & @heatherchadducktextiles create some of my favorite textiles and I recently discovered @_kathjones art in a local gallery and can’t stop browsing

What’s next? 2022 is a big year both personally and professionally! Molly Basile Interiors is expanding our team with a new designer joining us this spring. We are also renovating our new studio space we will be moving into very soon. I’m excited to have a dedicated space to welcome clients. We have an exciting lineup of projects from new construction and full-home furnishings to a renovation and preservation project on Queen Street in historic downtown.

Personally, I’m enjoying this sweet time with our 2-month-old baby girl and looking forward to our first vacation as a family of four in May to sunny Florida!

Recent interiors splurge: A botanical piece by Renee Bouchon to hang in our entry. I have been eyeing her work for years and finally was able to get my hands on one!

Recent interiors steal: A cute pair of cane barrel chairs from @oneofafindcharleston I have plans to reupholster and paint.

Recent Instagram saves: I find myself saving a lot from @thetraditionallist lately - all so good!
