Tell us about your journey into design! How did you begin your career as a designer?
I come from a long line of designers, decorators, and architects, so design has been part of my life from the start. I worked in marketing and communications for years at Estée Lauder, Pfizer, and Budweiser before realizing I wanted to be closer to the creative side of storytelling. When my husband and I bought our historic home in CT, I fell in love with restoring and designing it. Friends began asking for help, then friends of friends, and soon I was building a studio. Today, Gracia Taylor Design is a full-service interior design firm focused on classic, timeless interiors with livable luxury for real family life.

Your (designer) style icon:
Too many to count! Albert Hadley and Sister Parish for their fearless pattern play and sense of history. (Fun fact: my great-great-grandfather’s firm, Cross & Cross, designed Sister Parish’s childhood home, Mayfields.) Rita Konig for her beautiful, layered homes that feel lived-in and loved. Laura Keeler Pierce of Keeler & Co. for her masterful ability to create timeless interiors that feel layered with history and soul. And Megan Gorelick for her vibrant, playful designs.

Where do you look to find inspo:
I find inspiration in so many parts of everyday life. Historic homes, antiques, textiles, and gardens always spark ideas, but I’m just as moved by small, unexpected moments. Even the picture books I read to my daughters influence my work. Katy Hudson is an incredible illustrator - her use of color, tiny details, and rich storytelling feels magical. Children’s books are such a reminder that beauty doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. I love when interiors feel that way too: thoughtful, full of character, and able to make people smile.

Can you give us a glimpse into the process of bringing this beautiful bathroom together?
The goal was a space that felt feminine and beautiful, but still practical for two little girls. We kept the palette and pattern timeless so they could grow with it, and chose durable materials such as an indoor/outdoor rug, Weezie towels that soften with every wash, and hardware that stands up to daily use. It’s pretty, functional, and built for family life.

The Design Details:

Wallpaper: Lake August Nasturtium Meadow
Sconces: Visual Comfort with custom Molly Mahon shades
Vanity Hardware: Rejuvenation
Mirror: Sabrina Scalloped Mirror

Chair: Repurposed vintage chair upholstered in Kravet fabric with a custom Sister Parish pillow
Wall Hooks: MG & Co. colored hooks
Towels, Bathrobe, Tissue Box: Weezie!

Before you go…

Favorite Weezie item?
Oh gosh, what’s not to love! The long bathrobes for daily showers, the navy makeup washcloths for overnight guests, the adorable aprons for my two little sous chefs, and the laminated toiletry bags. I’m also excited about the new tree skirts!

What are you reading?
I’m a huge reader - thanks both to a love of books and a little insomnia! Lately, I’ve been loving Emma Bazilian’s Everybody Loves Stripes for design inspiration. And for fun, you’ll always find me with a book by Emily Henry, Annabel Monaghan, or Carley Fortune.

What’s next?
We’re currently working on several projects across Fairfield County, CT and starting a renovation out in Long Island, NY. It’s been our busiest year yet, and we’re already filling up for next year. I’m endlessly grateful for the families who invite us into their homes and let us be part of their story.

Recent interiors splurge:
A beautiful pair of vintage etched glass hurricanes - they add so much character and history to a tablescape.

Recent interiors steal:
Probably something hand-me-down from my mom. She has an incredible eye - they are always a reminder that some of the best design ‘steals’ aren’t bought.
