Can you give us a glimpse into the process of bringing these beautiful spaces together? This home was a very special project! It is my aunt’s home and we were creating bedrooms for her two daughters who were in college at the time. It was important for the bedrooms to feel timeless while also functioning as the occasional guest bedroom. I think it’s equal parts personal and inviting. As for the bathroom, we reconfigured the space for a freestanding tub and highlighted the eaves of the roof with lacquered paneling on the walls.

Tell us about your journey into design! How did you begin your career as a designer? After college, I landed an internship with the iconic Richard Keith Langham in New York and that quickly turned into a 4 year design position with his firm. When I returned home to Atlanta, I began working with Carolyn Malone. She is one of the most creative and talented designers, so it was an absolute dream to work alongside her for 7 years. When I picked up a few jobs on my own nearly 3 years ago and was expecting our second child, I took the leap into going full time on my own Vernona & Co.

What’s next? I am wrapping up a 2 year renovation project in Sea Island and we are set to install late January. I am very excited about this project! I have a few local jobs as well as a Mountain House that is in the early phases! Also, rolling out a “shop” portion to my website of antiques and fun finds. It has been something in the works for sometime but a goal of 2024 to really get it goin!
