Ariel Okin is the principal designer of her eponymous firm, Ariel Okin Interiors, a New-York based, full-service luxury design firm. We are BIG fans of Ariel's work, and when we saw this chic space we had to get the details. Keep reading for the scoop.

We love this chic black and white space. What can you tell us about this project?

This project was a labor of love for a young couple who purchased a pre-war space that we gutted and turned into a modern home for their young family. The apartment had great bones but needed to be updated in terms of layout, finishes, etc. so we took it down to the studs and rebuilt it with their lifestyle in mind.

When designing a neutral bathroom, where do you recommend bringing in pops of color?

Accessories make a space sing, and neutral bathrooms are forever timeless. I like to bring in pops of color in small ways, like through towels (hi, Weezie!) soap dispensers, cups, etc.

The floor-to-ceiling tile in this bathroom is stunning! What made you go with tile vs wallpaper?

Tile is a more durable option for a bathroom – it doesn’t peel or mold over time and is easily cleanable; plus it gives a crisp and chic feel to any bathroom space.

We love that you mixed finishes in this space. What are your tips on mixing silver and gold?

Don’t be afraid! Mixing finishes can make for gorgeous results.
