Take a load off! Interior Designer Maggie Dillon has crafted a space made for time spent relaxing in the tub (and she's included some fluffy towels for wrapping up afterwards.) Keep reading to hear all about the beautiful space.

Tell us about your journey to interior design.

I started working in the design world in 2013 after graduating from Wofford College and was with Circa Interiors for a year before going back to school at the Art Institute of Charlotte. I took design classes there and worked part-time for Charlotte Lucas Interior Design for about a year before jumping on full-time with Charlotte. After nearly 6 years with CLID, I moved from Charlotte to Chapel Hill where my husband had recently started business school and launched Maggie Dillon Interiors in early 2020. It’s been a wild ride ever since and I’m eternally grateful for the people who helped me get here.

Your style in a few words:

Patterned, bold and functional.

Your forever inspo:

The British interior design scene has got it right. They’re perfectly unkempt in all of the right ways and inspire me to create spaces that are comfortable, inviting and just a touch quirky.

You recently completed a fab primary bath and included some special Weezie pieces. Can you give us a glimpse into the process of bringing this beautiful space together?

This project was incredibly fun and special. We took the clients existing primary bedroom & bath and renovated those spaces while simultaneously working on a tub room & closet addition. Their bathroom was kept light & bright with the help of Calacatta Gold marble countertops, clean white cabinets and Waterworks unlacquered brass finishes. Ottoline’s ‘Catchweed’ wallpaper added just enough depth to the space and remains one of my favorite features from this project. I feel like it brings the outdoors in! For the finishing touch, we added monogrammed Weezie towels with a sand piping and green embroidery that paired perfectly with our wallpaper.

 The design brief:

Before you go...

What are you reading?: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Only a few pages in and already hooked!

Who are you following?: Sharland English – Louise Roe’s home collection of
hand-crafted wicker and antiques, Sarah Blomfield – an incredibly talented artist who has a serious knack for painting lampshades, How’d She Do That?, an inspiring podcast hosted by Emily Landers that digs in with each interview and leaves listeners feeling inspired and encouraged.

What’s next?: 2022 has an exciting lineup, with both local Raleigh and out of town projects. A main goal for this year is to expand Maggie Dillon Interiors with new, talented team members that will help me provide the needs of our growing clientele. I’m encouraging anyone interested to reach out for more info!

Recent interiors splurge: I recently had cornice boards made for my living room out of the most perfect Namaysamay block print fabric and am so satisfied with the result. They were installed just before Christmas and made for the loveliest backdrop to our Christmas tree.

Recent interiors steal: Three pieces of upholstery from my dear friend Charlotte Smith with Union Camp Collective. She has a marvelous collection of highs and lows, and is a favorite local spot to shop & support.

Thank you, Maggie! You can shop her towel picks here. Want more bathroom inspiration? Check out our recent feature with Taylor Hill here.
