New Jersey-based interior designer, Kerri Pilchik gave her client's powder bath a sophisticated update. Keep reading to hear how Kerri brought new life to this formerly dark and dated space.
Tell us about your journey to interior design.
I have a degree in Art History and I always wanted to be an interior designer but I thought that being an attorney would be easier! So I went to law school and practiced environmental law in NYC for 14 years. When it came time to make a change, I took the plunge and went back to school for interior design. I think that my background makes me uniquely qualified to provide both a client-centric and creative experience, paying attention to the smallest detail while bringing a passion for color and craft.
Your style in a few words: Colorful, sophisticated, balanced
Your forever inspo: I always am inspired by classical architecture that uses symmetry and substantial materials. One of my favorite buildings is the New York Public Library.
You recently completed an amazing powder room and included some special Weezie pieces. Can you give us a glimpse into the process of bringing this beautiful space together?
This powder room was outdated and very sad looking. The client wanted a more sophisticated and bright space for guests to use. We ripped out all of the fixtures and flooring and replaced them with a marble and brass console style sink and marble lattice mosaic flooring. The floral grasscloth wallpaper is elegant and pretty. I also decided to move the sconce from above the mirror to the side walls to create a more flattering light. The client loves Paris so the vase is from Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, a flea market in Paris, and the print is an ink drawing of a French bust. A monogrammed towel from Weezie was the perfect client gift.

What’s next? I’m in the process of photographing several projects that I’ve been working on for a while, including a home in Chestnut Hill MA. I can’t wait to share them with you! I’m also in the implementation phase of the decoration of a NYC apartment that is probably the closest project to my own personal style so that is exciting.
Recent interiors splurge: I recently visited Creel and Gow in NYC and bought some of their silvered cockle shells with silver spoons. They will look so beautiful on my table.
