Interior designer Clary Bosbyshell has been hard at work turning blogger Emily Hertz's Atlanta Tudor home into her dream home. The two ladies have created magic with their dreamy, feminine bathroom designs.
As you’ve told us before, you grew up in the world of interiors, with a mother in design! What is one piece of design or business related advice she gave you?
My mom always taught me to buy one antique a year and in 10 years you will have a beautiful collection.
We’ve absolutely loved everything we’ve seen from Emily Hertz’s beautiful home. What can you tell us about the project?
I always ask my clients from the beginning to gather a Pinterest or inspiration board so I can design their home to reflect them and their family life. Emily had saved inspiration images for years and we looked at them together. She loves a very feminine, floral, light-and-bright style. Her home being a Tudor style, one of our main goals was to lighten up the interiors. By painting everything a soft white and wallpapering many of the spaces, we achieved this. My favorite color is blue and I encouraged Emily to use it in her interiors and now it is one of her favorite colors too :)
We might be biased, but Emily’s bathroom has to be one of our favorites! What was your vision for the space?
It is such a beautiful space! Emily had saved an image from AD of Poppy Delevingne's London bathroom, that was our inspiration for the space.
...and this never-before-seen powder! 😍 So much goodness in this smaller space. What is your favorite element?
I just love the bamboo cabinet and its beautiful paint color. The wallpaper also is just gorgeous!
You're a mother of two (having just recently given birth to your second!) How has being a mother influenced your design approach?
I am still not afraid of using fabrics that aren’t considered “performance” even though I have small children. I have taught my son Rayfe to not eat on certain pieces of furniture but also nothing is too precious, if he spills it's OK. I think a home should look lived in and should be enjoyed. I do use performance fabrics in a lot of my projects as they are really amazing and do stand up to wear and tear, just in my own home I am not as worried :)
